Dedicated to celebrating Native culture and empowering communities through education, support, and cultural events.

The Southern Oregon Social Gathering fosters community and cultural sharing within Native communities. It offers inclusive, accessible gatherings for families, elders, and leaders to connect, learn, and celebrate Indigenous traditions. Emphasizing storytelling and education, these events strengthen bonds and support cultural continuity and community well-being.

The Southern Oregon Social Gathering began in the early 2000s through conversations between Terese Hall and Nick Hall, who identified a need for a space where community members could gather to share culture, information, and resources. Early gatherings were held at a physical location associated with the Southern Oregon Indian
Center and often included potlucks, cultural displays, and educational discussions.
These gatherings provided opportunities for elders and community leaders to share knowledge, stories, and cultural artifacts, drawing on professional and lived experience, including work connected to the Smithsonian Museum. As the community expanded across the region, the gathering evolved to better serve participants by transitioning to rotating meetings at local restaurants and venues throughout Southern Oregon—a model that continues to this day.
